MACOMB/MOLINE, IL - - Attention WIU community! A statewide tornado drill will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, to test functionality.

Although siren testing usually occurs on the first Tuesday of every month, this initiative will be statewide. The state's purpose of this drill is to test the community's readiness for life-threatening severe weather events such as tornadoes, flash floods, damaging winds and more.

WIU tests the emergency alert system, WEAS, throughout the year and will not be participating in this drill.

For more information, contact the Macomb Illinois Police Department at 309-833-4505 or visit weather.gov.
