WIU Art and Design to Host First Wednesday April 3

MACOMB, IL - -The Western Illinois University's Department of Art and Design's upcoming "First Wednesday '' event will take place from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, April 3 in Garwood Hall and the Heating Plant Annex. This event is open and free to the public, but all children 13 and under must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.

The WIU Art and Design faculty and students combine their efforts to offer creative, hands-on activities to visitors. Event activities include:

Garwood Hall
• Cyanotypes – Professor of Printmaking Bill Howard, Garwood 12
• Yayoi Kusama Meets Alexander Calder Paper Sculpture – Professor of Art Education Ta-Teh Ku, Garwood 24
• Brush and Ink Bird Drawings – Professor of Drawing and Painting Tim Waldrop in Garwood 25
• Surrealist Collage – Professor of Drawing and Painting Damon McArthur, Garwood 34

Heating Plant Annex
• Chasing Spring - Aluminum Flowers and Butterflies – Professor of Metals and Jewelry, Kat Myers,
HPA 107
• Wheel Mandalas – Professor of Ceramics Ian Shelly, HPA 111

The Student Art Gallery will also be open during the event. All are invited to view the Art Education Exhibition by Art Education students in the Gallery, Garwood 35.

*Please note that the Garwood Hall elevator is currently out of order so
attendees will be required to climb stairs to participate in these activities.
