MACOMB/MOLINE, IL - - The Western Illinois University Awards & Recognition Committee proudly names Ashley Wilkinson, academic advisor for the College of Business and Technology at WIU-Quad Cities, as WIU Advisor of the Month for April.

Wilkinson has been honored with this recognition following five student nominations, who expressed the amount of passion she brings to her job, the confidence they have in knowing their entire academic plan and the support she gives them, academically and personally affect their experience.

"Ashley is a ray of sunshine, a wealth of knowledge and a very supportive advisor," a nominator said. " I am a nontraditional student and going back to school after being away for 20 years, I was so anxious about coming back to finish my degree. She is patient with all of my questions and provides information and direction so I may make the best decision in class selections. She never makes me feel like she doesn't have time to sit and listen as we speak and is flexible with scheduling meetings as I work full time and need later appointments. She is a great representation of WIU."

A nominator notes her supportive attitude toward everything.

"I have issues with social anxiety and those disappear when I meet with Ashley," another nominator said. "She has helped me plan out my entire academic career, so I know exactly what I need to take and register for each semester. The detailed plan and her cheerful encouragement have made me more confident in myself, my courses and my college choice."

This recognition showcases Wilkinson's impact on the academic community at WIU and her commitment to supporting and enriching the lives of students in the departments she serves.
