Veterans Leadership Awards Ceremony May 10

MACOMB, IL - - The Western Illinois University Veterans Resource Center (VRC) will host the Veterans Leadership Awards Ceremony from 10 a.m.-noon Friday, May 10 in the University Union Lamoine Room.The awards ceremony will honor veterans and service members for their academic success, student involvement and leadership.
The event will include student inductions to SALUTE, the national veterans honor society and recognition of the Fallen Soldiers Scholarship recipients.
Following the event, at 12:30 p.m. on the north lawn adjoining the Wright Residence, the VRC staff will honor Steven Wright, a student worker who tragically passed away recently. Wright, an Agriculture major, joined the VRC in Summer 2023 as a VA work study student. As an agricultural student, he was actively involved in the care of the lawn and plants over the last year. In memory of his work, the VRC staff will have a tree replacement ceremony to honor his legacy and work at the VRC.
