Constitution Day Celebration on Sept. 18

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University will celebrate Constitution Day from 11:15 a.m. - 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, at the University Union Brattain Lounge and Capitol Room.

The celebration's theme is "The Oath of Allegiance to the Constitution," and will kick off with a poster session in the Brattain Lounge from 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m.

At 1:30 p.m., a keynote address will be delivered by Daniel Swanson, an Illinois state representative from District 71 and retired army veteran in the Capital Room.

Following Swanson's address, a panel discussion with WIU political science emeritus professor Richard Hardy, WIU Veterans Resource Center Director and retired Navy veteran Ronald Pettigrew and Konrad Sowizral, a member of the Army National Guard and WIU Political Science graduate student.

Constitution Day celebrates the day the United States Constitution was ratified on Sept. 17, 1787.

The event will be livestreamed at youtube.com/@wiuedumacomb and is sponsored by the WIU Department of Political Science.
