Just Hired! Through the experiences of local, regional, national and international students, Western Illinois University has incredible alumni who are making an impact in the workforce. This series features students from around the world who are hired post-graduation.
MACOMB, IL — Meet Hosea Ward, a graduate of Western Illinois University's Geology program, who was recently hired by RangeFront Mining Services, a company that provides geological and mining support services across the industry.
Ward secured his position through proactive networking, reaching out to experienced geologists in the mining industry for insight and guidance as he navigated his career path. As a newcomer to the field, he also conducted extensive research to better understand the industry and explore potential opportunities.
The hiring process included multiple, in-depth interviews, which ultimately led to an offer that aligned with both the company's needs and Ward's skill set.
During his time at WIU, Ward credits the Geology Department with providing a strong academic and practical foundation. The combination of classroom learning and hands-on fieldwork helped him develop a deep understanding of geology and prepared him to transition smoothly into a professional role. This preparation has proven essential as he applies his skills in real-world field settings.
Ward plans to stay involved with WIU by maintaining connections with fellow geology majors and offering guidance and support as they pursue their own career paths. By sharing his experiences, he hopes to give back while remaining connected to the WIU geology community.
