Murphy Named Director of Internal Auditing

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University is pleased to announce John Murphy as its new Director of Internal Auditing, effective Monday, Jan. 5.

Murphy brings 19 years of internal auditing experience, including time most recently as the Internal Audit Assistant Director at the University of Texas and the Internal Audit Director for the Department of Children Services in Nashville, TN.

"I am excited to join the team at WIU, and look forward to working with everyone on campus," Murphy said.

The director of internal auditing at WIU reports to the president. Responsibilities include planning and carrying out all compliance audits required by law for the University, including revenues, expenditures, grants and contracts, accounts payable, travel, property control, student financial systems, payroll, human resources, ADA and Affirmative Action, HIPAA, purchasing and computerized information systems. Additional duties include: maintaining an appropriate audit schedule for operational and financial audits; testing of new information systems for appropriate internal controls and security and submission of the University's FCIAA certification.
