WIU Theatre Presents "Bach at Leipzig" Feb. 19

MACOMB, IL - -The Western Illinois University Department of Theatre & Dance will present its Spring Opening Production, "Bach at Leipzig", directed by WIU professor DC Wright. The performance will take place at 7:30 p.m., Thursday through Saturday Feb. 19-21 in Simpkins Theatre.
Written by Itamar Moses, "Bach at Leipzig" is set in Leipzig, Germany, 1722. The play begins with the sudden death of Johann Kuhnau, the revered organist of the Thomaskirche. His passing leaves a prestigious post vacant.
The town council invites musicians to audition, attracting Johann Sebastian Bach and other ambitious musicians willing to use bribery, blackmail and betrayal to win fame and fortune.
