Riebling Named February COAA Employee of the Month

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University Academic Success Coach Andrea Riebling has been named the Council of Academic Advisors (COAA) Employee of the Month for February.

Riebling has excelled in her role, serving as a mentor for students by identifying challenges, connecting them with resources, creating action plans and providing referrals to campus services. All of this results in student persistence and success at WIU.

"She serves as an accountability buddy, continuously checking in and keeping up with my responsibilities," one of her nominators said. "She makes me feel heard and cared for, and like she truly wants me to be successful and will make sure I follow through on the ways I say it will be done."

Another nominator praised Riebling's enthusiasm for her job, inspiring students to dig deep and find more within themselves.

"The nominee is someone who truly cares about her students and never gives up on them," they said. "The nominee has impacted my life to the point where I went from a 2.5 GPA to now having a 3.0 GPA since I started to work with the nominee."

The nominee also said Riebling continues to reach out to her students about events and opportunities around campus and within the community. These suggestions range from where to find a good deal on a meal or how to get involved in something that is crucial to their future goals.

"Riebling is truly a caring person who cares for her students and allows them to do personal growth, which is one of WIU's core values," they said.

The COAP Employee of the Month award recognizes WIU employees who go above and beyond their regular duties. Nominations may be submitted by supervisors, colleagues, faculty, staff, students or members of the community. Monthly recipients receive a reserved parking space for one month and recognition from the University.
