MACOMB, IL - - A Western Illinois University student and professor earned a scholarship and grant from the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) to attend their national conference in Anaheim, CA, in January 2025.

WIU Director of Music Business Eugene Ryoo has received the Foundation-College Music Society Fellows Award and Senior Music Business Major Rose Kearns received the Lamond GenNext Award to attend the NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA

These awards give opportunities to faculty and students to attend the NAMM Show to learn and network within the industry with professionals and learn from fellow music business and industry faculty across the United States.

Ryoo said he credits WIU for giving him the tools to help him earn this award.

"My position at Western Illinois University's supportive environment has encouraged me to stay current with industry trends and continuously seek ways to bridge academic preparation with professional opportunities," Ryoo said. "Working with students passionate about music industry careers positioned me well to articulate how this fellowship could enhance our music business program and better serve our students' career goals."
