45th Geodeland Rock and Mineral Show March 14-15

MACOMB, IL - - The Geodeland Earth and Science Clubs, Inc. (GESCI) will hold its Annual Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, March 14, and 10 a.m-5 p.m. Sunday, March 15 in the University Union Grand Ballroom.
The theme for this year's 45th annual Geodeland Show is "Sensational Selenite." A featured display in the center of the room exhibits specimens of selenite from throughout the world. There will also be a featured display of meteorites.
The GESCI show will feature eleven dealers in minerals, fossils, jewelry and t-shirts. The exhibit will include items found in Western Illinois, other parts of Illinois and other items from around the world.
The show will offer family fun and entertainment, with plenty of activities for kids, a fluorescent minerals display, a fossil dig, a spin-and-win and a geode race. There will also be a grand door prize and hourly door prizes.
Food service will be available from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday in the lower level of the Student Union, provided by Chick-fil-A. Registration tables will have printed programs and sign-ups for the door prizes. Kids will receive two tickets at the registration table for different activities.
In conjunction with the show, the new History of Life Museum in Waggoner Hall will be open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday. Additionally, new displays will be in Waggoner and Currens Halls from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. both days of the show.
Admission to the show and parking are free. Donations for next year's show are accepted.
