MACOMB, IL - - Just Hired! Through the experiences of local, regional, national and international students, Western Illinois University has incredible alumni who are making an impact in the workforce. This series features students from around the world who are hired post-graduation.

MACOMB, IL-- Meet Luke Little, a graduate of Western Illinois University's Broadcasting & Journalism and Communications, who was hired as a news producer at WGEM, a Quincy-based TV station providing coverage throughout Iowa, Illinois and Missouri.

Little secured the position after initially applying for several open positions. Although he was not selected for those positions, WEGM's news director requested a reporting reel and invited him to meet. Weeks later, when a producing position became available, Little interviewed for the role and received a job offer during finals week. He began working two weeks after graduating.

During his time at WIU, Little said his coursework played a key role in preparing him for this position.

"Broadcasting helped a lot with learning the language of news and TV and just the operational side of things," Little said. "I use the most from my writing classes and journalism ethics course. Covering live sports at WIU also prepared me to produce live shows on a daily basis."

Little plans to remain involved with WIU by supporting Leatherneck Athletics teams and staying active in the community.
