Council for Exceptional Children to Host Name That Tune Fundraiser

MACOMB, IL - - As the Western Illinois University chapter of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) prepares for its annual trip to the Special Education Leadership Summit (SELS) in Washington, DC, the group is hard at work fundraising. CEC will hold its annual Name That Tune music trivia event Friday, April 10.

The annual summit, which this year is scheduled for July 12-22, is sponsored by the international level of CEC and Council for Administrators of Special Education (CASE). The event typically hosts educational professionals from across the U.S. for two days of learning and professional development. In addition to working professionals, attendees include some graduate students and even fewer undergraduate students. Six WIU students are planning to attend this year's summit.

"This will be the third summer I have traveled with WIU students to the Special Education Legislative Summit. This group of students is so impressive and represents WIU on the national level so well. The experience they receive in DC is crucial as they prepare for their careers and continue to learn about how national decisions impact the students in their classroom." Hollie Mason, assistant professor of Special Education, said. "Traveling to DC is not an inexpensive endeavour, so we truly appreciate everyone's generous support through our fundraisers. Our Name That Tune event is going to be a great evening for everyone involved!'

The Name That Tune fundraiser will begin at 6 p.m. April 10 at The Penny, 26 West Side Square in Macomb. Teams of four can participate for $80 and teams of eight can participate for $160. Corporate sponsor tables are available for $200. Additional options include VIP backstage passes (mulligans) for $1 each and category previews, which sponsor students to attend the event for free while giving participants a sneak peek of Name That Tune categories, for $10 each.

Teams must pre-register for the event. Registration is available at wiu.edu/NameThatTune.
