Honoring Achievement: WIU CAS Spring 2026 Awards

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University Mathematics Professor Dinesh Ekanayake has been named the Spring 2026 recipient of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Outstanding Faculty Award for Research and Scholarship.
Ekanayake is recognized for his influential contributions to geometric optimization, biomathematics, and medical applications. Beyond his scholarly work, the award highlights his unwavering dedication to mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in their research.
The College will honor Ekanayake during the CAS Spring Reception from 4-6 p.m., Thursday, April 30, in the University Union's Lamoine Room. Following this achievement, he will be considered for the university-wide Provost's Award for Research/Scholarly Activity in Fall 2026.
