Delores E. Armstrong Obituary

MACOMB, IL - - Delores E. Armstrong, 91, of Monmouth, passed away Thursday, May 7, at Renaissance Care Center in Canton.
Born December 6, 1934, in Camden, she was the daughter of John Franklin and Sarah (Morrell) Reeder. She was raised and educated in Camden and Rushville, graduating from Rushville High School. She married George M. Armstrong in 1954 in Rushville.
Armstrong was a homemaker while raising her family. She later worked for Western Illinois University in Macomb in the housekeeping department for 15 years before retiring.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Monmouth. She enjoyed dancing, crocheting and cooking and was especially known for her homemade apple dumplings and noodles. Her greatest joy was her family, particularly spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her two daughters, Darla (Larry) Gentle of Canton and Janice (Scott) Champion of Mooresville, North Carolina; her grandchildren, Ryan Gentle, Lance Gentle, Corey Champion, Mandy Champion and Maggie Champion; 10 great-grandchildren; her sister, Imogene Nell of Fairview; and her special friend, Linda Brent.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 10 siblings.
Cremation has been accorded. A Celebration of Life service will be announced and held at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital and sent to the funeral home.
