MACOMB, IL — William Reynolds, a dedicated athlete with the McDonough County Special Recreation Association (MCSRA), competed in the Special Olympics Illinois Regional Track and Field Competition held in Galesburg, IL, on April 26. He is coached by Western Illinois University Recreation, Park, Tourism, and Hospitality graduate student Amber Esquivel and WIU School of Communication, Media and Experience Industries Director Jeremy Robinett, whose involvement reflects ongoing community engagement through Western Illinois University.
Competing alongside his teammates, Reynolds delivered an outstanding performance, earning medals in both the softball throw and the 800-meter walk. His achievements reflect not only his commitment to the sport but also the strong support system fostered by MCSRA.
During the opening ceremonies, State Representative Dan Swanson joined athletes for a photo, showing her support for the participants and the program. Her engagement highlighted the importance of community involvement in supporting local athletes.
The McDonough County Special Recreation Association coordinates Special Olympics programming in the region, providing opportunities for athletes of all abilities to train, compete, and grow through sports.
