WIU Alumna Recognized as Subject Matter Expert by International Society For Pharmaceutical Engineering

MACOMB, IL — Western Illinois University alumna NagaPranitha Chodavarapu (‘13) has been selected by the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE) to serve as a subject matter expert reviewer for two of the organization's Good Practice Guides, technical documents used by validation professionals across the global pharmaceutical and medical device industries.

Chodavarapu earned a master's degree in Chemistry from WIU in 2013 with a 4.0 GPA. She resides in Frisco, TX, and works as a senior lead in IT validation at a publicly traded medical device company, where she leads regulatory compliance and validation strategy for enterprise systems supporting a medical device used by patients in more than 20 countries.

In addition to her work as an ISPE subject matter expert reviewer, Chodavarapu authored an original practitioner framework on the use of artificial intelligence in pharmaceutical quality systems. The article was submitted to ISPE Pharmaceutical Engineering, the organization's flagship journal, in June 2026 and is currently under peer review.

Chodavarapu also has a published article on ISPE's official platform that has drawn direct engagement from senior industry professionals.

Her career reflects a path from WIU's Chemistry graduate program to a specialized role in pharmaceutical regulatory compliance, a field in which the safety of drugs and medical devices depends on rigorous validation of the computer systems used to manufacture and track them.
Her recognition by ISPE, along with endorsement of her original scholarly work by senior authorities in her field, including a founding member of the Good Automated Manufacturing Practice (GAMP) initiative, highlights her continued contributions to the field.
