WIU Celebrates New Turf with Ribbon Cutting on Aug. 26

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly installed turf at Hanson Field with the Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 26.

The event will take place at Hanson Field and feature WIU officials and WIU Football Head Coach Joe Davis. The project was completed in early August and the updated field design features the Rocky Head mascot logo as well the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) logos, bringing a fresh new look to the playing surface.

Following the ribbon cutting, preparations will begin for the WIU football season opener on the new turf at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26 against Northwestern College.
