Derry Named September CSEC EOM

MACOMB, IL - - WIU Assistant Director of Creative Services & Branding Justin Derry has been named the September Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for September for his exceptional work on billboards, viewbooks and advertisements that have earned many awards, reflecting the high level of talent, creativity and professionalism he brings daily.

"What really sets Justin apart is everything he does beyond his job description," his nominator said. "He regularly goes above and beyond to represent WIU and strengthen its connections with the community. He even dons the Rocky costume for community events, photo shoots and videos, bringing energy and enthusiasm to every appearance."

Derry has also become a bridge between WIU and the Macomb community. He is always willing to get involved, make connections and help tell the University's story in creative and engaging ways. He has expanded his skills by earning his drone license and now uses his drone to capture unique photography and video for the University.

"Perhaps most importantly, Justin is a positive influence on everyone around him. He brings an upbeat attitude, a sunny personality and a genuine can-do spirit to the team. His enthusiasm is infectious and he makes the people around him want to get involved and do their best," his nominator said.

Derry exemplifies what it means to go above and beyond, not just through the quality of his work, but through the energy, creativity and community spirit he brings to WIU.

"Justin is very deserving of this recognition," his nominator concluded.

As the Civil Service Employee of the Month, Derry will receive a $100 stipend (before taxes), a plaque, a reserved parking space and recognition through a University press release. Derry's photo will also be displayed by the Office of Human Resources and will be eligible for consideration for the Civil Service Employee of the Year Award in December.

The Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month Award recognizes Civil Service employees who demonstrate exceptional enthusiasm, effort and quality in job performance by going above and beyond their regular job duties. Nominations are placed as a permanent record in the recipient's personnel file.
