State Senator Halpin to Speak at WIU Constitution Day Event

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University will host Illinois State Senator Mike Halpin (36th Senate District). In recognition of Constitution Day at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 17 in the University Union Capitol Room.
Constitution Day commemorates the signing of the U.S. Constitution in Philadelphia in 1787, a foundational moment in American democracy. The day serves as a reminder of the enduring principles that shape civic life, including freedom of speech, assembly and participation in government.
Halpin will present a speech entitled "Protecting the Freedom to Speak, Assemble and Be Heard: The Constitution in Action."
The event will also be streamed live on the WIU YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/user/WesternIllinoisU. The recording will remain available on the channel for later viewing.
This event offers the WIU and Macomb communities an opportunity to engage directly with a state legislator on issues central to civic life and constitutional freedoms.
