WIU School of Music to Present Faculty Trombone Recital Sept. 21

MACOMB, IL - - The Western Illinois University School of Music will present a Faculty Recital, "Trombone and Piano, Sans Piano," featuring trombonist Jett Walker at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, in the School of Music (COFAC) Recital Hall.

Jett M. Walker, Doctor of Musical Arts, is currently an Assistant Professor of Trombone at WIU. In addition to his work with the WIU Trombone Studio, he instructs courses in conducting and performs with the La Moine Brass Quintet, the resident faculty brass quintet at WIU.

This performance, featuring fellow School of Music brass faculty and students, is dedicated to the life and legacy of Doctor Hugo Magliocco, WIU Trombone Professor Emeritus, and his wife, Maurine Magliocco.

A trombonist for more than 50 years and a teacher for more than 40, Hugo Magliocco arrived at WIU in 1963. As Western's first trombone instructor in the Department of Music, now the School of Music, he taught for 36 years before retiring in 2000. Throughout their lives and careers, both Maurine and Hugo expressed their sense of community and connection to WIU.

In addition to the Trombone Scholarship, Maurine and Hugo's lives and legacies will also live on in the School of Visual and Performing Arts at WIU through the new Goldfarb Center for Performing Arts.

with the WIU Trombone Choir, Kayelee Stockdale, conductor

WIU Trombone Choir: Jem Frost, Colby Monarch, Kaylei Littig, Ethan LaBau, Cole Dowdal, Shiloh Watts and Madison Smith.

The performance is open free to the public and will be live-streamed on the School of Music's YouTube channel.
