WIU Celebrates Founders' Day on Sept. 23

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University will celebrate its traditional Founders' Day from 9:30-10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23 in the University Union Brattain Lounge.
Founders Day will feature remarks from WIU President Kristi Mindrup and Board of Trustees Chair Polly Radosh. Provost Mark Mossman will also ring the traditional bell that was used to signal the first day of classes at WIU in 1902.
"Honoring Western's founding reminds us that opportunity has always been at the heart of who we are," President Mindrup said. "We carry that legacy forward as an Opportunity University that inspires students to discover their potential through excellent academic programs and experiences. Throughout its evolution and still today, WIU strengthens communities, the workforce, and the future of our region and state."
Light refreshments will be provided by the President's Office.
