Ribbon Cutting for Student Engagement Center on Sept. 23

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University's Office of Student Engagement is holding a ribbon cutting for its new Student Engagement Center at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23 in the University Union basement.

The newly revamped Student Engagement Center, formerly known as the Student Organization Center, underwent renovations during Summer 2026 to create a new area that promotes student engagement and involvement on campus. It features lounge space, a suite for the Office of Student Engagement and dedicated student spaces, including collaboration rooms, a podcasting room, a Zoom room and a relaxation room.

"We are excited to celebrate our new Student Engagement Center," Nick Katz, director of WIU Student Engagement said. "The importance of getting students involved and connected with campus is unparalleled. Through this space, combined with our popular Purple and Gold Points program, we look forward to seeing our students having a place to engage with campus."
