Horn Field Campus Holding Fall Open House Oct. 6

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University's Horn Field Campus is inviting the community to an open house for the Fall 2026 semester from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6.

The 92-acre Horn Field Campus (985 China Rd., Macomb, IL) is located a mile south of Macomb and serves as a unit of the new College of Humanities, Arts, Sciences, and Education (CHASE). The open house will feature light refreshments, tours of the facility and a bonfire. CHASE interim dean Kyle Mayborn will be in attendance to discuss the importance of the Horn Field Campus and its continued role moving forward.

"Horn Field Campus is a special place where WIU and regional community members come together to study nature, build connections among teams and foster leadership skills," CHASE Interim Dean Kyle Mayborn said. "Its historic lodge, outdoor facilities, and woodland trails make it a haven that inspires community, growth, teamwork, and a deep appreciation for the environment. We look forward to everyone joining us for the open house to experience its unique opportunities firsthand."

The open house is sponsored by Clock Tower Community Bank of Macomb.

Horn Field Campus includes a comprehensive challenge course facility surrounded by savannah-oak woodlands, a restored prairie, foot trails and a historic lodge and cabins for meetings and retreats.

Facilities are available for rent throughout the year and are regularly utilized by organizations within the campus community and general public.
