WIU to Host National Senior Health & Fitness Day Event Oct. 28
October 12, 2026
MACOMB, IL — Western Illinois University's The Healthy Resources Institute for Vital Enrichment (T.H.R.I.V.E.), which started with a donation by Miriam Satern, will host a National Senior Health & Fitness Day event from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, in Brophy Hall.
"This year's event theme is "Move a little, live a lot!" We are proud to empower bodies, educate minds, and elevate senior wellness on campus and in the greater community," Bories said.
The event is open to members of the Macomb community aged 50 and older and will provide an opportunity to learn more about health, wellness, and fitness.
Faculty and students from WIU's School of Nursing, Applied Health and Human Performance will offer health and fitness screenings and assessments throughout the event. Attendees can also participate in presentations and access educational materials focused on healthy aging and wellness.
National Senior Health & Fitness Day is an annual observance that promotes the importance of physical activity, health, and wellness for older adults.
