2005 Homecoming King and Queen Candidates Named

MACOMB, IL - - It is time once again for Western Illinois UniversityÂ’s Homecoming festivities, the crown jewel of which is naming the 2005-2006 Homecoming King and Queen.
Student voting will take place in the University Union concourse weekdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Thursday, Sept. 22. The winners will be announced Tuesday, Sept. 27 at the 6:30 p.m. variety show in Western Hall.
The court will ride in the 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1 Homecoming Parade and will be recognized at halftime of the 1:05 p.m. Fighting Leathernecks versus Northern Iowa football game at Hanson Field.

ILLINOIS
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS (60004)
Kaitlin Sawyer, a junior broadcasting major, represents Bayliss and Henninger halls. Her community service efforts include volunteering at MacombÂ’s Martin Luther King Day of service. She is a resident assistant, president of TEAMLEAD, a member of the National Residence Hall Honorary, a peer mentor and former vice president of Hall Government. Sawyer is also a member of WesternÂ’s Illinois Centennial Honors College.
BARTONVILLE (61607)
Amber Henderson, a junior special education major, represents Thompson Hall. She volunteers for Relay for Life, Race for the Cure, the AlzheimerÂ’s walk and Saint JosephÂ’s Home in Peoria, IL. She is also a Eucharistic minister at WesternÂ’s Newman Center. Henderson is the vice president of WesternÂ’s Student Education Association, chair of the big pink volleyball campaign against breast cancer, a participant in Residence Hall Government and Resident Assistant Council and is a member of WesternÂ’s Council for Exceptional Children through the special education department.
LAKE ZURICH (60047)
Julie Boge, a junior communication major, represents Bayliss and Henninger halls. A resident assistant, Boge also volunteers at WesternÂ’s annual memory walk, is a former peer advisor and a member of Campus Students for Christ.
MACOMB (61455)
Sarah Ferguson, a senior music education major, represents Campus Students for Christ. She volunteers for Relay for Life, the Al Sears Jazz Festival, is a Holiday Festival childrenÂ’s choir assistant, a peer mentor and an Illinois Music Educators Association district festival assistant. She is a member of Mu Phi Epsilon, Illinois Collegiate Music Educators Association, National Association for Music Education, American Choral Directors Association, WesternÂ’s Centennial Honors College, the talent grant search committee, University Singers, Opera on Wheels, vocal jazz ensemble and works as a counselor at WesternÂ’s Summer Music Camp. In her spare time she is also a member of the Macomb Municipal Band and teaches piano lessons.
MOKENA (60448)
Tim Wolf, a junior individual studies major, represents UNITY, WesternÂ’s gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and ally organization. He is a member of the Cadet Explore program, Student Government Association (SGA) education committee and UNITY executive board. He is also an SGA senator and volunteers at the Macomb animal shelter and the Frankfort, IL Police Department.
MOLINE (61265)
Scott McFarland, a junior history major, represents Tanner Hall. He is the Student Government Association Speaker of the House, a member of the College of Arts and Sciences Student Council, Associated Students of History, Council on Student Activities Funds and Model Illinois government. McFarland is also a member of Boy Scouts of America and Order of the Arrow.
NAPERVILLE (60564)
Kyle Reini, a junior economics and political science major, represents Higgins Hall. His volunteer experiences include planning a blood drive, participating in Relay for Life, the big pink volleyball breast cancer campaign and fundraising for AlzheimerÂ’s research. He is a member of the Resident Assistant Council, Delta Sigma Pi, Economic Student Association, Newman Council, College Republicans, Illinois State Resident Assistant Association and is a resident assistant.
SPRINGFIELD (62703)
Christopher Reed, a senior law enforcement and justice administration major, is representing Campus Students for Christ. He is a member of Boy Scouts of America, Alpha Phi Omega, Concert Safety Core, Investigators Club, Residence Hall Government and Take Back the Night. He is also a resident assistant, an Eagle Scout and a volunteer for St. BalderickÂ’s charity events.
VANDALIA (62471)
Samantha Johnson, a senior law enforcement and justice administration major and Pre-Law honors minor, represents Alpha Sigma Tau. She volunteers for the Human Rights campaign, blood drives, Relay for Life and Habitat for Humanity. She is a member of the Centennial Honors College, Phi Eta Sigma, ROTC, WesternÂ’s cheerleading team and color guard.
IOWA
CONESVILLE (52739)
Charles Cherry, a junior individual studies major, represents Corbin and Olson halls. He volunteers for America Reads, Light the Night, Relay for Life, Salvation Army and the big pink volleyball breast cancer campaign. He is a senior resident assistant, member of Inter-Hall Council, Resident Assistant Council, National Residence Hall Honorary, Illinois Residence Hall Association and Hall Government. He also works with recruitment efforts such as Discover Western and Experience Western.
