AUDITIONS SET FOR "THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES"

Female members of the WIU community are invited to audition. According to Women's Center Graduate Assistant Becca Groves, the event organizers are seeking a diverse cast of females. Theatre experience is not required, and a monologue is not required to audition. Those auditioning will be given selections from the play to read. Women interested in auditioning must call the Women's Center at 309/298-2242 in advance to sign up for a 10-minute audition timeslot.

Men are also invited to participate in V-Day WIU 2008 by helping with production, publicity and complementary events. Production meetings will be held on Wednesdays, Nov. 14 and 28, and
Dec. 5 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the Women's Center conference room, Seal Hall, third floor east wing.

All cast and crew members must be available for a cast and crew retreat the first weekend in December, as well as for rehearsals and all three performances. Dates and times for the retreat and rehearsals will be discussed at the auditions.

The V-Day College Campaign is brought to the WIU-Macomb campus by the Women's Center and Feminist Action Alliance. Ninety percent of the funds raised by "The Vagina Monologues" performances will be donated to local organizations that provide violence prevention education and support services, including the Western Illinois Regional Council-Victim Services, the WIU Women's Center and the University Counseling Center. V-Day International's efforts to stop violence against women worldwide will receive the other 10 percent of the funds raised, which will be donated to the Katrina Warriors, an alliance dedicated to ending the violence against women and girls in post-Katrina Greater New Orleans.
