Students, faculty, staff, organizations and community members are invited to attend. Presenters are also being sought for the event.
The event includes a luncheon followed by sessions on topics including health, career development, campus/community connections, media and current issues. The seminar is designed to educate and celebrate the talents and contributions of women of color. According to Aramis Watson, University Housing and Dining residence halls complex director and WOCS planning committee chair, "Another purpose of the seminar is to enhance participants' leadership skills and knowledge about campus and community resources, as well as to provide an opportunity to network with students, faculty, staff and community members."
Watson added that while the seminar is open to anyone interested in these issues, the organizers are particularly seeking presenters and participants including African-American, Latina, Asian American and international women.
Students, faculty, staff or community members interested in presenting on any of the topics are invited to submit a proposal form to the Women's Center, 320 Seal Hall or by e-mail to womenscenter@wiu.edu by noon Friday, March 21. Proposal and registration forms are available at www.wc.wiu.edu.
