MACOMB, IL - - Christopher Schwartz (Bloomington, IL), a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree program student in the Western Illinois University art department, will present his Senior BFA Exhibition Monday-Friday, Nov. 30-Dec. 4 in the University Art Gallery.

His exhibit of watercolors, called "Recent Works," will include an artist presentation at 11 a.m. Monday (Nov. 30) and a 6-8 p.m. public reception Tuesday, Dec. 1.

"Lately, my work has mostly been with line - - trying not to settle into any kind of 'style,' but rather choosing the right line for the piece." Schwartz said. "I have been experimenting with different media in my watercolors so that my lines are visible but still feel like a part of the painting. I have been concentrating on my compositions as well, opening up the painting to capture a larger space that is interesting without being overwhelming."

Schwartz was named a Spring 2009 Student Talent Grant competition award winner. He also earned talent grant awards in 2008 and 2007.

The WIU Art Gallery is open free to the public from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays and from 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays when the University is in session. For more information, call (309) 298-1587 or visit wiu.edu/ArtGallery.
