MACOMB, IL -- Join students, as well as faculty and staff members from several Western Illinois University departments and from West Central Illinois education and business communities, to celebrate the WIU College of Education and Human Services' 13th Annual Tech Fest Thursday, April 26 on the WIU-Macomb campus.
Slated for 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Horrabin Hall gym, Tech Fest 2012, which this year is themed, "Win IT with Technology," will feature an array of exhibitors and participants, including exhibits and presentations from area high school students; Western Illinois University faculty, staff and students; Citizens Bank in Macomb; McDonough District Hospital; Apple, Inc.; and many more. At 1 p.m., there will be a drawing for an Apple iPad. (Contestants must be present to win.)
Interested individuals are invited to submit presentations for the 13th Annual Tech Fest event. Presentation information can be submitted via the Tech Fest online form available at wiu.edu/coehs/tech_fest/. Deadline to submit presentations is Monday, April 9.
According to College of Education and Human Services (COEHS) Dean Sterling Saddler, the annual Tech Fest event provides the College, the University and the community with a collaborative way to celebrate the technology that is increasingly impacting education and human services.
"From the systems we use to provide students with instruction and to get work done, to the ways we share educational, instructional and professional information, Tech Fest provides us with an excellent venue through which to demonstrate how technology connects the many disciplines within the University, as well as how the University and its many entities are connected to the Macomb community and West Central Illinois region and beyond," he said.
COEHS Director of Marketing and Community Relations Dana Moon added WIU's College of Education and Human Services is grateful for the support for Tech Fest provided by Citizens Bank in Macomb.
"Their continual contributions are crucial to the success of the event. It has been a wonderful partnership and the WIU and Macomb communities have greatly benefited from learning and interacting with the technologies that are presented," she said.
