Reid J. Epstein to Give Keynote Speech at Journalism Day

MACOMB, IL - -Politico.com reporter Reid J. Epstein will be the keynote presenter at Western Illinois University's Journalism Day Friday, April 27.

Epstein's speech "Technology's Tools in an Election Year," is scheduled for noon in the University Union Sandburg Theatre. Epstein is currently covering presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

Originally from Peoria (IL), Epstein covers politics in Long Island and New York state. While working for the Milwaukee (WI) Journal Sentinel, he covered crime, local politics and the Wisconsin (dairy state) butter law, which makes it illegal for restaurants to replace butter with margarine. Epstein also was the New York correspondent for the Ottawa Citizen and interned at The Wall Street Journal, The Clarion-Ledger in Jackson (MS), and the Peoria (IL) Journal Star, according to politico.com.

He earned his degrees from Emory University and Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.

The Department of English and Journalism and Visiting Lecturer Committee sponsor Journalism Day.
