General Information

Student Employment administers employment programs through Regular Employment and Federal Work-Study (FWS). With approximately 2,300 Regular Student Employees and almost 250 Federal Work-Study Employees working on campus, student employees play a significant role in the day-to-day operations of Western Illinois University. Student employees perform a wide range of duties from general office assistance to those duties requiring highly specialized training in such areas as computer programming and accounting. The wages paid to Regular Student Employees and Federal Work-Study Employees account for over 2.4 million dollars of the WIU payroll.

Students interested in student employment should visit the Student Job Listings page. Positions are posted as departments have openings via Handshake. (Please note: new incoming students will NOT have access to Handshake until they have fully registered and have been assigned an account by the University. Student should NOT CREATE THEIR OWN ACCOUNT, as it will only delay access). Students search for all on-campus positions within Handshake and should follow the application procedures stated for each position of interest. Departments will initiate employment authorization when a student is selected for a position.

Departments planning on hiring student workers can find information on submitting postings for Handshake on the Submit a Student Job page
