The office of University Marketing works in support of the president. University Marketing works closely with University Relations, Document and Publication Services, the Internet Advisory Committee, Admissions, the College Marketers, other University unit marketers.

Brand Guidelines

Western Illinois University’s brand showcases our history and brings new initiatives to light that move us forward. Together, we will position Western as one community to reach more students who share our Leatherneck values. This guide helps all ambassadors—anyone representing WIU— apply the brand. These standards help build and maintain consistent visual and verbal communication.

University Marketing Functions

  1. Establish and promote a consistent brand for Western Illinois University (WIU).
  2. Safeguard the integrity of the brand.
  3. Develop and promote a design and messaging strategy that supports the University’s brand.
  4. Communicate and integrate the University’s brand and messaging strategy across the University including both campuses, the colleges, and other university units.
  5. Communicate and promote the University’s brand and key messages to our internal audiences, and our external audiences of alumni, donors, and prospective students and their parents through a variety of advertising and promotional mediums.
  6. Serve as a resource for units across the University.
  7. Promote WIU and its Macomb campus locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
  8. Manage the University’s trademark and licensing program.
