Amy Ford is both a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Managerial Accountant (CMA). Ford worked in public accounting prior to teaching at WIU. She is the faculty advisor of WIU's Student Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants (SCIMA). Her teaching areas are principles of financial accounting, principles of managerial accounting and advanced management accounting.

Ford was named the 2011 IMA Faculty Mentor of the Year. Her performance on the CMA exam in 2011 earned a Certificate of Distinguished Performance, for achieving one of the top exam scores in the world.
