Dr. Lane joined the Counselor Education faculty at Western Illinois University - Quad Cities in August of 2018. She earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and Theater Arts: Dance from Beloit College in Beloit, WI. Dr. Lane received her Master of Arts degree in School Counseling from the University of Iowa, along with a certification in Gifted Education from the Belin Blank Center. She earned her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Iowa. Prior to her doctoral training, Dr. Lane spent over a decade in school settings, serving in the roles of teacher, administrator, and, finally, school counselor. She is a licensed school counselor in the State of Iowa and is a National Certified Counselor (NCC). 
Dr. Lane teaches courses primarily in the school counseling track within the Counselor Education department, such as Orientation to the School Counseling Profession, Children and Adolescents, Managing Data in the Schools, Pre-Practicum Clinical Skills, and Practicum and Internship supervision. Her research interests include school counselor advocacy and social justice, serving under-represented gifted students, college and career readiness in PK-12 settings, and school counselor preparation. In her free time, Dr. Lane enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and attending theater and dance performances.
