uTech provides a wide range of services to support the technology that is a key component of the learning experience at Western. Not only do we operate numerous uTech computing labs across campus, we also maintain the many electronic classrooms that enable faculty to integrate technology into their teaching. And forall users, we operate the HelpDesk/Support Center that provides not only call-in help, but online self-help as well. Plus, there is ResNet, our very own team of technicians who support all users living in campus housing.

Underneath all of this is the infrastructure that makes is all possible, be it Zimbra, Western's chosen integrated email/calendar solution; WesternOnline, the WIU online course system that supports both fully online courses and those with online resources that support ground-based courses; the Data Center that maintains the vast amount of student, faculty, and staff data; and Telecommunications who support our campus phone service. Technology Security is there as well, to keep all of our technology and our use of technology, safe and secure.

And don't forget our uTech Apple/Dell store which carries a full line of hardware, from iPods all the way up to high-level desktop machines, and everything in between, all at educational discount pricing.

uTech's goal is to keep it all running smoothly for the user, and it is a goal we take very seriously. Part of this is also investigating new technologies, like a campus portal and web content management system which are currently being deployed for campus use, and more, like campuswide VoIP that will soon become a reality. Technology is always growing, and uTech keep us all working and ensures that Western is moving forward to meet the increasing needs of a high quality campus technology environment.
