Updates on unexpected interruptions or outages will be posted below. Note that STARS and WIUP are offline for maintenance every night from midnight to 3:00 a.m, and some Sundays between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Other systems may be offline between 9:00 p.m. Friday and 6:00 a.m. Saturday for scheduled server maintenance. Routine maintenance outside of these windows are posted to our Facebook and Twitter feeds.

Disruption Resolution - Cloudfare outage resolved (11:12am)

Cloudfare has announced that a fix has been implemented and that the incident is now resolved. They are continuing to monitor for errors to ensure all services are back to normal.

Disruption Notice - Global Cloudfare outage impacting multiple web-based services (7:45am)

Cloudfare is currently having an outage worldwide that is impacting multiple web-based services and systems. Users may be unable to log in or access various different systems today due to this outage. Please monitor https://www.cloudflarestatus.com/ for updates.

Disruption Notice - AWS - Service Outage (9:16am)

As of around 2:30 AM CT (Mon, Oct 20), an ongoing Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure issue is causing intermittent login failures, slow loading, and errors in the following services: Respondus, Turnitin, Brightspace (D2L), Zoom, and Slate.
We’re monitoring vendor updates and will share more information as it becomes available. If you’re unable to access a service, please try again periodically. Thank you for your patience.

Disruption Resolution - VPN Access Restored (9:49am)

The earlier issues affecting off-campus connections to both the VPN Client and Clientless VPN have been resolved. All services are now operating normally. Thank you for your patience while we worked to restore access.

Disruption Notice - VPN Outage (9:15am)

We are currently experiencing issues with both the VPN Client and Clientless VPN services for users connecting from off campus. Our team is investigating and working to restore access as quickly as possible.

  • Impact: Users attempting to connect to the WIU VPN using the Global Protect VPN client or the clientless option may receive an error when attempting to establish a connection

Disruption Notice - Emergency Network Maintenance (4:41pm)


uTech has become aware of issues with one of our core network devices causing degraded and/or loss of service for portions of the Macomb campus.The network team is planning to replace this device between 7 and 9 pm this evening (9/4). WiFi and wired network services for portions of the Macomb campus will be down while the device is replaced. Areas likely to be affected by this outage include, but are not limited to:

Lincoln Hall
Washington Hall
Grote Hall
Art Gallery
Garwood Hall

  • Impact: seeing degraded and/or loss of service. will see complete loss of service while core device is replaced.
