you the flexibility to work at recreation, health and human services
agencies in the public, non-profit and commercial sectors. Recreation
and leisure services is over a half-trillion dollar industry in the
United States (Bureau of Economic Analysis, 2008) and is a significant
segment of the growing services sector of the economy. Upon graduation,
RPTA students find positions as managers and recreation therapists in a
wide variety of recreation, health and human services agencies such as
city parks and recreation departments, YW/YMCA’s, tourism bureaus,
resorts, hotel & convention centers, national and state parks,
museums and historic sites, hospitals, community mental health
centers, and other health and human services agencies. Careers in
leisure services offer excellent working conditions and good wage and
benefits packages. RPTA graduates find working in leisure services very
