Natural Resource Management for Recreation

The future of your community depends on the conservation of its natural resources. RPTA faculty engage students in active efforts to conserve and preserve local and regional ecological systems. At WIU you can study the management of outdoor recreation resources while using advanced technologies like GPS and GIS to plan and manage parks and other natural areas. Through an experience-based curriculum, students gain knowledge necessary to develop and manage green spaces where people enjoy the natural world.

You're not going to learn how to manage a prairie or a forest by listening to a lecture. You've got to DO IT! Be prepared for spontaneous learning moments when a bald eagle soars by your head or you discover a prairie trillium while designing a forest trail. Schedule a time to tour our sustainable campus or take a walk along the adjacent riverfront trail and discuss your career path with Rob Porter!
