BFA in Art - Art Studio

Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) in Art - Art Studio option is the degree that prepares students for a career in the visual arts and provides an in-depth, comprehensive, and structured background in the fine arts. This degree program is designed for highly motivated students looking to become professional artists and entry into graduate M.F.A. programs. It allows the student to focus on their chosen studio area for the development of conceptual focus and exceptional technical proficiency. Areas of studio specialization include: ceramics, drawing, metals/jewelry, painting, printmaking, and sculpture. Students in this program are required to complete a BFA Senior Exhibition and will graduate with a well-defined personal and professional portfolio.

The BFA in Art - Art Studio does not require a portfolio for admission into the program. Students will be accepted to WIU as a BFA Art - Art Studio major. However, all BFA Art majors are required to pass an entry portfolio review and junior portfolio review to continue in the BFA program and must complete a Senior Portfolio or Senior Exhibition in order to graduate with a BFA degree.
