2017 Monthly Updates

  • December 2017 Update:
    Synopsis: The data in this month's  Strategic Plan Update  shows that Western Illinois University’s traditions of excellence position the University well to serve the next generation of students. With this in mind, the Social Responsibility Task Force will be considering even more ways to recruit and retain students. We seek your participation in this process. Please also contact me if have any questions and/or feedback for the continued successful advancement of the  Higher Values in Higher Education 2012-2022, and/or for the drafting of  Higher Values in Higher Education 2017-2027.
  • November 2017 Update:
    Synopsis: The October 2017  Strategic Plan Update  indicated that the first eight meetings of the Social Responsibility Task Force (SRTF) have/will focus on quantitative internal and external environmental scanning. These meetings will be completed on December 13, 2017. In preparation for future meetings, this month’s  Strategic Plan Update  lists 51 data sources that have or will be reviewed by the SRTF.
  • October 2017 Update:
    Synopsis: This month’s  Strategic Plan Update  overviews the University’s strategic planning process, provides the academic year 2017-2018 Social Responsibility Task Force (SRTF) membership, and shares fall meeting agendas. The SRTF will work collaboratively with the university community to create the next 10-year Strategic Plan for Western Illinois University. Our new Strategic Plan will be endorsed by all governance groups on both campuses before it is presented to the Board of Trustees for implementation approval.
  • September 2017 Update:
    Synopsis: This month’s  Strategic Plan Update  provides dates and times for the remaining fall 2017 Summits sponsored by the President’s Executive Institute. Please contact my office if you would like additional information on locations and/or if you would like to attend any of these meetings.
  • August 2017 Update:
    Synopsis: The start of academic year 2017-18 offers opportunity to reflect on summer 2017 accomplishments, as the University continues to advance the goals and priorities of  Higher Values in Higher Education  and the President’s Executive Institute. These topics and a review of individual faculty and staff accomplishments occurring during summer 2017 will be the topic of this month’s  Strategic Plan Update.
  • July 2017 Update:
    Synopsis: This month’s  Strategic Plan Update  invites you to a special series of events reinforcing Western Illinois University’s long-standing tradition and commitment to serving the military. From July 26-30, 2017, WQPT will host The Wall That Heals (The Wall) and a series of complementary events, including a Veterans History Project, televised screenings, Military Kids Day, and other special ceremonies.
  • June 2017 Update:
    Synopsis: Thank you for attending the June 14, 2017, press conference announcing the goals and priorities from the  2017-2018 Strategic Plan Supplement  (SPS) and the President’s Executive Institute (PEI).   • May 2017 Update:
    Synopsis: This month's  Strategic Plan Update  gives the URL for the website that contains the annual Planning and Accomplishments Reports and Presentations made by the Vice Presidents and areas that report to the President on May 4-5, 2017.
  • April 2017 Update:
    Synopsis: With the recent establishment of a new university-wide task force, this month’s  Strategic Plan Update  seeks your input on ways for Western Illinois University to increase its service to military students and their families. Our shared actions will advance student success, and the University’s long-standing traditions and national recognitions as a Military Friendly Institution.
  • March 2017 Update:
    Synopsis: On behalf of the Social Responsibility Task Force, this month’s  Strategic Plan Update  seeks your feedback to the revised draft of the  2017-2018 Higher Values in Higher Education Supplement. Changes made were based on feedback received from the University community through solicitation in the  February 2017 Strategic Plan Update, meetings with governance groups, and from constituent groups’ feedback provided to Social Responsibility Task Force members.
  • February 2017 Update:
    Synopsis: On behalf of the 44 members of the Social Responsibility Task Force, this month’s  Strategic Plan Update  seeks your feedback to the draft of the  2017-2018 Higher Values in Higher Education Supplement. Please provide your feedback to me by March 20th, so the Task Force can continue to refine this institutional document. We are also scheduled March meetings with all governance groups on both campuses to gain additional feedback from members of the University community.
  • January 2017 Update:
    Synopsis: This month’s  Strategic Plan Update  highlights Western Illinois University’s inclusion in the United States Department of Education’s (DOE) Promising Practices for Improving Student Degree Attainment that was published in December 2016. Only 11 institutions nationally were featured in this publication. Western’s inclusion in this publication demonstrates how faculty and staff continue advancement of the Vision of  Higher Values in Higher Education, as we become the national leader in quality, opportunity, and affordability.
