History Honors Program

History majors may complete an Honors curriculum and be recognized as doing so by the University in their academic transcript and in their University graduation ceremony. The History department's Honors degree requirements are as follows:

  • Nine credit hours of in-course Honors projects in History courses, six of which credit hours must be in 300- or 400-level courses
  • HIST 490 - Senior Honors Thesis (three credit hours)
  • 3.4 cumulative grade point average
  • 3.5 grade point average in History courses in which an Honors project was completed

For in-class Honors projects and the Senior Honors Thesis, students work closely with the supervising faculty member to develop suitable Honors-level academic work.
