The crime log incidents posted may not match the crime statistics as reported in the Annual Campus Security and Fire Safety Report per the federal Clery Act, as the crime log is compiled using the Illinois Crimes Code and the crime statistics are required by law to be compiled using the Federal Uniformed Crime Reporting definitions.
According to federal law, an institution may withhold any of the required fields of entry, e.g. the nature, date, time, location and/or disposition, if any of the following conditions apply. Disclosure is prohibited: by law; would jeopardize the confidentiality of the victim; would jeopardize an ongoing criminal investigation or the safety of an individual; would cause a suspect to flee or evade detection; or would result in the destruction of evidence.
On May 5 at 6:11 p.m., Non-student Dukuzuncnenya Spates, 33, of Elgin, IL was arrested during a traffic stop at the intersection of W. Pierce St., and N. Avery St., and charged with driving without a valid license. He was transported to McDonough County Jail with a mandatory court date of June 7.
On May 5, at 6:34 p.m., a WIU student reported the theft of an Xbox 5 from his room in Lincoln Hall. The incident is under investigation.
On May 6 at 4:39 p.m., Macomb Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in the Union basement. MFD reset the alarm. No injuries were reported.
On May 7 at 1:12 a.m. and at 1:36 a.m., Macomb Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Sherman Hall. MFD reset the alarm. No injuries were reported.
On May 7 at 10:23 p.m., Macomb Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Heating Plant. MFD reset the alarm. No injuries were reported.
On May 8 at 3:55 a.m. Macomb Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Art Gallery. MFD reset the alarm which was triggered due to excessive water. No injuries were reported.
On May 8 at 8:01 a.m. Macomb Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at BEU Health Center. MFD reset the alarm. No injuries were reported.
