Provost's Awards for Academic Excellence

In 2005, the Provost's Awards for Academic Excellence were established to celebrate faculty contributions in teaching, research, service and campus initiatives.  Six awards are granted annually, culminating in a recognition ceremony each year.  Award recipients receive a $1,000 stipend and a crystal sculpture as recognition of their achievement.  Candidates must be current Unit A or B faculty.

Award Guidelines

Note:  You may include up to three (3) letters of support.

Application Limitations

  • Narrative:  Five (5) pages maximum, single spaced - be sure to state the impact on the University, students, and community.
  • Sample Syllabus:  No page limit.  Include a syllabus for one (1) course.
  • Supporting Documentation:  Ten (10) pages maximum.  Whenever applicable, such as in the case of performing/creative works, applicants may submit multimedia elements.  Each multimedia element submitted counts as one (1) page toward the 10-page maximum.  These submissions should not contain multipage works, such as entire journal articles or books.
  • Letters of Support:  Up to three (3) letters of support from Deans, chairs, peers, or students – letters of support from these individuals do not count toward your 10-page limit of supporting documentation.  These must be included with your packet at the time of submission and will not be collected by the Provost's Office or the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Research.  Each letter of support should not exceed two (2) pages.
  • Stipulated Appendix:  No page limit.  Each application must contain a stipulated appendix.  A sample stipulated appendix is available for review.
