Guernica comes to WIU Sept. 25-29

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University's Department of Theatre and Dance will present Cody Daigle's "Guernica" at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, Sept. 25-29 in the Horrabin Theatre.
Directed by Theatre Professor Ray Gabica, the play centers on Pablo Picasso's depiction of the real-life annihilation of the Spanish town of Guernica by the German Luftwaffe in 1937. It follows young artist Eric who meets a mysterious man claiming to be Picasso and sees the famous painting as a recreation of the bombing.
"The script follow the heart of art, how we do it, why we do it and why it's important to everyone as ‘witness to the events of mankind,'" said Gabica. "Following Picasso's struggle to present the horrific event of the bombing of Guernica is fascinating."
