Ag Mech Club's 2013 Farm Expo Feb. 9-10 at Western Hall

MACOMB, IL -- The 43rd annual Farm Expo at Western Illinois University is slated to open Saturday, Feb. 9 on WIU's Macomb campus. The largest student-run farm show in the U.S., the WIU Farm Expo is organized by the Agriculture Mechanization (Ag Mech) Club. The 2013 hours are from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10.

The two-day event will feature emerging ag technology, tractors and machinery, livestock equipment and supplies, crop supplies, as well as information about ag sales and service, conservation methods, ag structures and much more. In addition, area businesses and organizations, such as McDonough District Hospital (which will offer general health and wellness information), will be exhibiting at the exposition. Alan Jarand, radio director at the RFD Radio Network, will deliver the keynote address at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9.

For the kids and crafters, a farm toy and craft show will also be held both days in the upper concourse of Western Hall. The Kiddie Tractor Pull is scheduled to start at noon, Sunday, Feb. 10.

According to the 2013 Farm Expo website, many varieties of toy tractors, cars, trucks, scale models and crafts will be on display, and vendors from around the Midwest will be present.

The Ag Mech Club's 43rd annual Farm Expo is open free to the public, and free parking will be available in WIU's Q-Lot located on the east side of Western Hall.
