Impact of Media on Women Topic of March 21 Panel Discussion at WIU

MACOMB, IL - - How does the media affect women in terms of body image, health consequences and self esteem?

Those issues, and others, will be presented in a panel discussion with five Western Illinois University women faculty members at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 21 in Morgan Hall 101B.

Other issues the panel will tackle include the impact of the media on women in terms of socialization, violence against women, stereotyping, sexual harassment and gender discrimination.

Panelists will include Lori Baker-Sperry, women's studies assistant professor; Sharon Evans, broadcasting professor; Janis Edwards, communication assistant professor; and Mimi Prerost, Beu Health Center.

The session, sponsored by the Western Anthropology and Sociology Club, is open free to the public. For more information, contact 309-298-1573.
