WIU Listed Among Illinois Affordable Colleges for Online Learning

MACOMB, IL -- Western Illinois University has earned a spot among 48 other Illinois colleges and universities ranked -- and is one of four Illinois public universities in the top five -- for providing the most affordable online degree programs.

AffordableCollegesOnline (AC Online) analyzed Illinois colleges and universities, reviewing data related to cost and accreditation. Western is ranked fourth out of 48 for meeting two core elements set by AC Online: quality and cost.

AC Online compiles the list of schools using data sets from the NCES (National Center for Education Statistics), IPEDS (Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System), Carnegie Classification and Payscale.com. All colleges, universities and online programs reviewed for the online learning rankings passed the following criteria: Carnegie classification, offers at least one degree program fully online, four-year degree-granting and full accreditation.

In September, Western earned a spot among 38 other Illinois colleges and universities ranked for providing the greatest lifetime return on investment.
