Services Set for Communication Professor Emeritus Ned Shearer

MACOMB, IL -- Funeral services for Western Illinois University Communication Professor Emeritus Ned Shearer will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 7 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Macomb, with graveside services immediately following. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, June 6 at Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home in Macomb. Shearer, 76, passed away June 1 in Macomb.
Shearer retired from WIU in 1999 after 26 years of service. He served as chair of the Department of Communication Arts and Sciences from 1973 to 1983.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy, and two sons.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Loaves and Fishes Etc., 400 E. Carroll St., Macomb, or the Department of Communication at WIU in honor of Ned A. Shearer (c/o the WIU Foundation, 303 Sherman Hall, Macomb).
