MACOMB, IL – The annual signature University and community event that kicks off Western Illinois University's Homecoming activities is set for Thursday, Sept. 25 at The Forum in Macomb.

Celebrating Town & Gown, the event that brings the University and the city of Macomb together, will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25 at The Forum, with a short program scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m.

In addition to celebrating the past year's accomplishments of WIU President Jack Thomas and Macomb Mayor Mike Inman at the event, WIU Alumni Director Amy Spelman will announce the recipients of the 2014 Honorary Alumni and Town & Gown Awards. The Honorary Alumni Award, given annually since 1994, is presented to an individual who is not a WIU graduate but who has provided exceptional service to the WIU community. The Town & Gown Award, given annually since 2007, is presented to an individual who has provided exceptional service to WIU and the community.

In addition to the awards presentation, attendees will be updated about Rocky on Parade, the 14 sculptures unveiled for the very first time at last year's Town & Gown event. One year later, the fun will begin again… Celebrating Town & Gown 2014 guests will learn about the next installment of Rocky on Parade coming in 2015.
